Better assistance for children in vulnerable situations
All children in Copenhagen have the right to thrive and learn, whether they struggle with academic challenges, social issues, or mental health difficulties. The reality in the city’s public schools is often that teachers and educators bear too many responsibilities with too few resources. This affects the children who need support the most.
I therefore aim for:
Implementing more hours with a two-teacher setup so that students receive more support and better teaching. It helps create a calmer, more attentive, and differentiated learning environment. When there are two adults in the classroom, it becomes much easier to support students who are struggling or need extra help. This benefits not only those who are having a hard time but the entire class.
A focus on mental well-being and less stress at school through better pedagogical support. School should not only be a place for academic performance but also a place where children feel safe, heard, and able to develop as individuals. Therefore, there needs to be more pedagogical support during the school day, more resources for the social life of the class, and collaboration with parents to create a healthy school culture.
More resources for inclusion and special education. Far too many children get stuck in a system where support is delayed or does not arrive at all. I will work to ensure that more children have access to the special education services they need and that schools have the tools and funding to succeed in creating inclusive communities.
